George Jernigan

Mr. George Wilton Jernigan, 92, of Olney, died Monday, October 4, 2021, at Brook Grove Rehabilitation Center.

George was born January 31, 1929, in Suffolk, VA.  He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary Alice Hartley Jernigan, and his daughter, Christine Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Winnie Jernigan; two daughters, Charlotte Goebel (Wayne) of Pittsburgh, PA and Leannah Gignac (Mark) of Danville VA; five grandsons, two granddaughters, and eight great-grandchildren.  George was very close to Winnie's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and considered them as part of his family.  He was a faithful and active member of Church of the Redeemer in Gaithersburg for many years.

The family will receive visitors at 11:00 on Friday, October 8, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, with funeral service immediately following at noon at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mount Airy.
