Listen to Obituary

Georgeann Jackson passed away on July 13, 2026, after suffering from Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years, bringing to a close a life of compassion and achievement and leaving behind a giant hole for those who knew and loved her. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of George and Alice Jane Bucher Pesa, who predeceased her. She was also the granddaughter of Gianfelice Pesa, who emigrated from Italy at the turn of the 20th century. Georgeann proudly displayed the ship manifest for his trip to America, which showed the day that he passed through Ellis Island enroute to Youngstown.

Georgeann attended Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, and was a friend and classmate of Eddie DeBartolo, who later became the owner of the San Francisco 49ers. Georgeann attended Mr. DeBartolo’s induction into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio in 2016.

After graduating from Kent State University with a degree in sociology, Georgeann began a career working with abused and neglected children as part of the Washington, D.C. Police Department and later with the Fairfax, VA court system. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Political Science, she went to Capitol Hill, where she worked for Congressman Don Clausen from California.

Seeking a career change, she attended Georgetown University and earned a Master’s Degree in Accounting and obtained her CPA certification. During this transitional period, she worked for Peat Marwick (now KPMG) in their consulting practice. It was there that she met her future husband, Gary Jackson. Upon graduation she went to work for the student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae) rising to the level of Director of Accounting.

During this period Georgeann and her husband founded Jackson Properties, LLC; a real estate investment company that built, owned and managed numerous commercial and residential properties. Her financial expertise was instrumental in growing the company, where she continued to work every day, until no longer able. Also during this period, Georgeann and her husband built a cabin in Deep Creek, doing the work themselves. She quickly developed many construction skills and just as quickly decided to never try it again.

Always active, Georgeann loved tennis and golf and had an uncanny ability to keep her drives in the middle of the fairway, waiting patiently while her husband searched for his ball. Frequently, she played with her mother’s clubs from the 1950’s. She was an avid biker and routinely rode 40-60 miles, even in the hills of Garrett County. As a season ticket holder, she attended Baltimore Ravens games for 18 years.

In addition to her husband, Georgeann is survived by her stepdaughter Sarah Murray and her granddaughter Tina Noelle Robinson. All other members of her immediate family predeceased her.

A celebration of her life will be held at her home on Lindbergh Ave on Saturday, August 1st at 2:00 p.m.
