George Earlston Carter

June 18, 1942 — April 19, 2007



Mr. George Earlston Carter, 64 of Ijamsville, died Thursday, April 19, 2007 after a brief illness.

Born on June 18, 1942 in Ijamsville he was the son of the late Marcella (Snowden) Thompson and Herman L. Carter, Sr. George was a painter for Berlin Construction for over seven years.

A member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, George loved to transport his family and friends to any destination in the area they need to go to.

Survivors include his three loving sisters; Ursula Thompson Stewart, Mary D. Carter Lyles and husband Merle, and Dorothy Girlie Carter Holland and husband Robert all of Ijamsville; a special niece Sheila Thompson and a special nephew Donald Dorsey, Jr, and many other loving nieces and nephews. George will also be remembered by his friends Willis Gilbert and Roger Jones.

He was preceded in death by five brothers; Merle Thompson, Elmer Thompson, John P. Thompson, William G. Thompson and Herman Carter, Jr., and a sister, Vernice M. Dorsey.

Visitation: Friends may be call at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday from 2 until 8 PM where the family will be in attendance from 6 until 8 PM.

Services: Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Reginald Ward and Bishop Merle Lyles officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer UMC Cemetery where serving as pallbearers will be: Raymond Foreman, Roger Jones, Troy Dorsey, Donald Dorsey, Jr., Gregory Lyles, and William Stewart.
