Gilbert Zimmerman, 72, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, passed away on October 8, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Elizabeth Zimmerman.
Born on June 12, 1946 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Paul and Pauline (Etz) Zimmerman.
Gilbert served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967, where he obtained the rank of Sergeant and served overseas in Germany. He worked as a Customer Service Manager for Delta Airlines until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion, Clopper-Michael Post 10, in Boonsboro, Maryland. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, relaxing in his chair, watching football on TV, and spoiling his beloved K-9 companion, Stoli. He was dedicated to his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, Liz, and his children, Dustin Zimmerman, 38, Gregory Zimmerman, 37, and Tish Licciardone, 53. He has four grandchildren, Gregory, 17, Gabriel, 12, Karen,19, and PJ, 20. He is loved by his adoptive family, Clyde and Gino Pusey, and Lola Campli Playfair.
In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by Clyde and Mildred Pusey and Delores Clark.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Ramada Plaza Wyndham Hagerstown, 1718 Underpass Way, Hagerstown, MD where they will share in a time of remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 10, 710 North Main Street, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
