Mrs. Gloria Dolores Breeden, 92, of Jefferson, Maryland, died Sunday, June 9th at the hospital in Frederick, Maryland. She was the wife of John W. Breeden, who died in 2007. They were married for 57 years.

Born December 23, 1931 in Brunswick, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Louise Snowden and Bernard Barger.

Mrs. Breeden graduated from Brunswick High School in 1948. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jefferson where she enjoyed singing in the choir as a soprano for many years.

She loved to travel and visited every state in the U.S., with her final continental adventure taking place in Alaska where she panned for gold. She also visited Europe, exploring Germany, Ireland, England, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries. Late in life she enjoyed feeding the many wild gray squirrels that gathered outside her home in Jefferson, Maryland. They would come right up to the screen door and calmly “talk” with her while they ate their lunch.

She is survived by her sister Brenda Snowden of Virginia. She has two children, daughter Janye G. Dallas and husband Mike of Gettysburg, PA and son John Breeden and wife Karen of Germantown, MD. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Cristina (Daniel) Purcell, Alexandra (Tony) Sarota and Anna (Jimmy) Kiernan and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, MD. 21716.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. William Carpenter officiating.

Interment will follow at Jefferson UMC Cemetery.
