Gregory S. Fetchko

Gregory Serge Fetchko of Hanover, PA, beloved son of Dorothy Snead Fetchko and George Fetchko, passed away on April 8, 2023, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD.  He was born on April 9, 1942, in Washington, DC.

Greg is survived by Shirley Fetchko, his devoted wife of 41 years, two loving daughters Christina Fetchko Farver and Cynthia Fetchko Rea (David Rea), three grandsons Richard Morley Farver III, David Gregory Rea, and Stephen Matthew Rea, and sister Jan Hill (Rolf Hill), nephews Robert, Michael, David, and Brian and sister-in-law Karen Foss (Arnie Noel) and nieces Sari, Debbie, Tina and Kim.

Greg started his career at age 11 as the very first Carrier Boy hired for the inaugural door-to-door delivery of The Maryland News in 1953, then worked as an automobile mechanic for Chevrolet, and retired from AT&T after a long career.

Greg had a wide range of interests. He was an automobile enthusiast and founding member of the Quarter-Milers car club circa 1959 in Garrett Park, MD, and recently owned a buttercup yellow 1955 Studebaker President Speedster. He built beautiful furniture, enjoyed bluegrass music, world history, steam powered trains, reading, cross-country travel, family genealogy, super Sudoku puzzles, homegrown tomatoes, local peaches and his adorable fuzzy cats.

Greg was delighted to serve as Sergeant of Arms at Green Springs Rod & Gun Club in Hanover, PA.  He was a huge NASCAR fan, cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs, and a proud minority owner of the Green Bay Packers.
