Broad Run

Harold Arnold Webber, Jr. “Bubby,” 79, of Broad Run, Maryland, died peacefully, surrounded by his family at Doey's House in Hagerstown, MD. He went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 13, 2025 after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Huffer) Webber for nearly 59 years. Born August 23, 1946 in Frederick, Maryland, he was the oldest child of the late Harold Arnold Webber, Sr. and Mary (Linck) Webber. He was preceded in death by his brother Leonard Earlen Webber, Sr.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters: Valerie Roosa (Keith) of Sparta, Wisconsin; Vickie Green (Bryan) of Williamsport, Maryland; and Veronica Smith (Riku) of Hagerstown, Maryland. A devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he leaves behind his grandchildren: Roger, Victoria (Robert), and Vanessa; Jessica (Footney) and Jenna (Dave); and Levi (Bethany) and Harry (short for Harold, named after his grandfather and best buddy) and great-grandchildren: Austin, Ryleigh, Koralynn, Wyatt, Keegan, and Bryce. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Jean (Webber) Rohrer of Frederick, Maryland, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bubby retired from his home improvement business, She-Bub Construction and Painting, in December 2021 after 40 years of being self-employed. Prior to this, he spent 12 years working nights for Safeway grocery stores. A veteran of the United States Army, he was a lifetime member of Amvets Post #9 in Middletown, Maryland. Bubby was also a 50-year member, past-president, and 2022 Man of the Year of the Burkittsville Ruritan Club where he spent many years helping with carnivals, country butchering, and ham preparation for countless members of the community. He was also an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Burkittsville where he served on the church council and property committee. Prior to becoming a member of St. Paul’s, he was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Bubby loved to travel, especially going on cruises with his wife. However, his favorite place to visit was his beach place in Fenwick Island, Delaware where he could often be found sitting on the screened-in porch he built.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home in Brunswick, Maryland. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burkittsville, Maryland on Friday, December 19 starting at 11 a.m. The Reverend Veronica Webber Smith and The Reverend Kimberly Nunberg-Wadel will co-officiate the service. A private interment will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown, Maryland at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be good friends Wayne and Holly Leatherman, Tim Twigg, Dixie Lescalleet, and Gary Shafer.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 5 E. Main St., Burkittsville, Maryland 21718; and Hospice of Washington County (Doey's House), 11370 Caring Path Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
