Harvey J. Starkey

Mr. Harvey J. Starkey, 86 of Walkersville, MD., died Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Kline Hospice House. He was the husband of Frances J. Davis Starkey, his wife of 65+ years.

Born June 30, 1923 in Clarksburg W VA, he was the son of the late Harvey V. And Ethel Hammond Starkey.

Mr. Starkey was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frederick where, in earlier years, he was in the church choir. He was a teacher retiring after 32 years for the Frederick County School System. Harvey was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, the American Legion Post # 282, and the Amateur Radio Club of Frederick. He enjoyed barber shop music and was a past member of the Frederick Cactotones for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved football and fishing.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Lorna Grasty of Walkersville and a sister Anna Rose Crim of W VA. He will also be remembered by his special friends Melvin, Rhonda and Meghan Trail.

Harvey was preceded in death by a brother Charles V. Starkey and a sister Margaret Allen.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Monday, January 25, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. With Rev. Burnis Barrott officiating.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
