Henrietta was born on May 5, 1950, in the Bronx, New York. She spent most of her life there before retiring to Frederick, Maryland, to be closer to family.
She was educated in the Bronx and graduated from Taft High School before attending Lehman College. After taking a break to work in the banking industry, she returned to complete her accounting degree and ultimately received a master’s degree in education from Mercy College before pursuing her true calling in teaching. Henrietta began and ended her teaching career at PS 208 The Alain L. Locke School located in Harlem, NY, where she dedicated herself to educating gifted and talented third graders before her retirement.
Henrietta had a passion for movies and television, especially enjoying watching African movies with her sister. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, and loved staying active through swimming, aqua aerobics classes, and chair yoga at the Y. Above all, she was a devoted church member and believer whose faith guided her life. Throughout her spiritual journey, she served faithfully at Mt. Gideon Baptist Church in the Bronx, Co-op City Baptist Church in the Bronx, and was a devoted member of First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) for 14 years. Over the years, Henrietta served in various roles within the church including missionary, youth Sunday school teacher, adult peer Sunday schoolteacher, youth choir director, founder of VBS, and member of the prison ministry.
Henrietta's legacy lives on through her unwavering faith, her dedication to education, and the countless lives she touched through her ministry and teaching.
