Howard James Boyd

Howard James Boyd, 79, of Frederick, Maryland, formerly of Ocean View, DE, passed from this life on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Somerford Place in Frederick, MD. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Marie Boyd.

Born on September 29, 1945, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Clarence Allen Boyd and Margaret Matilda (Fassbach) Boyd.

Howard was a graduate of St. John's College High School in 1963, and the University of Maryland, 1967. He has a long career as an Ombudsman with the IRS.

An active member of the community, he was involved with Marriage Encounter, Southern Delaware Education Fund, and Social Justice Ministry. He enjoyed running (and completed the Marine Corp Marathon), chess and was a cantor at church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Bridgette Benoit, Carl Boyd and Michelle Boizelle; grandchildren Faith Money, Kara Strathman, Taylor Lombardi, Marissa Boizelle, Jason Boizelle, and Violet Wilhem; and great-grandchildren, Boyd Money, Finn Money, Hank Money, and Cliff Money.

He was predeceased by his brothers Dennis Boyd, Carl Grant Boyd, and Greg Boyd.

A Memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 6 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD. A reception will be held in the church social hall immediately following Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Delaware Education Foundation, of which Howard was the founder of this organization.

Interment will be private.
