    Returning from the war, he soon married Carmen and they moved to her native home of Santo Domingo

    There he worked as a freelance artist for several years before settling back in
    
    Washington, D

    C. after the birth of their daughter. Jerry worked at the Washington Post as an illustrator for
    
    the advertisement department

    He then worked in the presentations department as an illustrator and designer
    
    for government contracts for John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. He did multiple renderings of the
    
    new design Tomahawk Missile, also doing freelance work where he illustrated the book

    . He worked for John Hopkins until eventually retiring and was able to work

    He had a great love for history and was self taught in the Lakota (Sioux) Language. He made continuous
    
    contributions to the Saint Joseph

    He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing

    Jerry was a devout Catholic and a member of Saint Michael's Parish

    He was a loving and devoted father
    
    and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by the many people who have been touched by his love and

    Friends will be received at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Friday, July 23,2010 from 7-9 p.m.
