Hugh M. Morris

Hugh M. Morris, 98, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Homewood in Frederick, MD. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie, of 56 years of marriage.

Born on August 22, 1927, in NJ, he was the son of the late Russell V. and Anne B. (MacDonald) Morris.

Hugh was a member of the Brook Hill United Methodist Church and active in the musical program. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He spent the next 6 years working for Ohio Bell Telephone Co. and then went to work with IBM for 37 years. He attended night school at Fenn College (now Cleveland State) where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and went on to American University and received his master’s degree in environmental science.

He is survived by three children, Russell M. Morris, Cathi L. Fox, and Steven A. Morris; five grandchildren, Ryan Morris, Renee Louderback, Mark, Ken and Olivia Morris along with thirteen great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by both his brother Peter Morris and dear friend Mary Owens.

A celebration of Hugh's life journey will take place at 10 am on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the chapel at Homewood, 7407 Willow Rd., Frederick, MD 21702.

Interment will be private family graveside service.

Hugh had become very supportive and committed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital mission. In lieu of flowers he would much prefer, memorial donations given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. (stjude.org).
