It is with deep sorrow and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Hunter Ray Young, age 25, of Thurmont, MD, who died tragically on July 25, 2025, at University of Maryland Shock Trauma due to injuries sustained when a large tree fell onto the top of the driver’s side cab of his work truck on MD Rt. 77 near Thurmont on the sunny morning of July 2, 2025.
Hunter Ray Young, was known by all who met him as kind-hearted, full of life, and effortlessly likable. His warm smile, generous spirit, and infectious laughter lit up every room and every heart he entered. Whether he was working on a truck, talking on his phone (with his headset on) or lending a hand without being asked, Hunter lived with a quiet grace and an open heart.
Born on August 18, 1999, Hunter grew up in Frederick, MD. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 2018 and went on to work as a mechanic; his latest job was driving a pool water truck for T.E.M. Trucking Inc. This was a job that he really loved.
Hunter was an avid outdoorsman, a loving son, grandson, nephew, a dependable friend and so much more.
Hunter is survived by his father, Paul Young III, his maternal grandparents, Stephen & Marjorie Smith, paternal grandparents, Paul & Sharon Young, brother, Russell Fleetwood II, aunts & uncles, Lisa & Brian Mount, Jennifer & Tim Young, Donald & Donna Young, Loretta & Randy Zimmerman and others. He is also survived by cousins, Jen Young, aka Aunt Jen, Justin Brown (Nikki Stephens), Brooke Young, Dalton Mount, Tiffani Mount and others. Hunter is also survived by a very special friend, Daryl Albright (Faith) and many other special friends, too numerous to name.
Hunter was predeceased by his mother, Kimberly Sue Young, and great grandfather, Paul R. Young Sr.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31st , at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1st, at the funeral home chapel with Tim May officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Russell Fleetwood II, Tim Young, Justin Brown, AJ May, Garrett Manahan and Tator Adkins.
