Irene Nadine Slifer

Irene Nadine Slifer, 91, of Boonsboro, MD passed into the arms of her Lord at Bryant Woods Manor in Columbia, MD, on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born on September 5, 1934, in Rohrersville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Floyd W. and Lillian (Eakle) Smith of Locust Grove, MD.

She was a 1952 graduate of Boonsboro High School. She worked for Pangborn in Hagerstown, Londontown in Boonsboro, and in-home childcare. She was a member of Bethel U.M. Church in Rohrersville, MD, where she sang in the choir and served on many committees. Her family and church family were very important to her. She bowled in the Lady’s League in Boonsboro and the Turners Senior League. She was an avid supporter of Special Olympics, in which her daughter Jennifer participated in. She loved all children.

She is survived by her children: Dianne Collinson and husband Richard, Ronald Slifer and Jennifer Slifer; grandchildren: Chris and Mike Collinson, Milissa Walk (James) and Aaron Slifer; great-grandchildren: Addison and Ryleigh Harvey and Bailee and Abel Collinson. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Munson and numerous nieces and nephews and all her beloved family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Slifer, whom she married on March 3, 1952, and shared 66 years of marriage with. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Wilfred (Smitty) Smith and sister-in-law Deloris Smith and brother-in-law Dr. Carlton Munson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 5 from 11 am to 12 pm at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, Boonsboro, MD. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 12:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. A burial will follow services at Boonsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel U.M. Church of Rohrersville, Hospice of Washington County or the ARC of Washington County.
