J. Daniel Geisinger, known to his loved ones as Dan, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 18th.
He was born on January 16, 1929, in Walkersville to the late Lewis Henry Geisinger and Mary Bessie Getzandanner Geisinger.
Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. Dan's dedication to his family was evident throughout his life. He was a loving husband to the late Marie Bernadette Knott Geisinger. Their bond was built on love, trust, and mutual support.
Dan is survived by his two daughters, Jeanne M. Geisinger of Frederick, and Kathleen A. Flook and friend, David Wolfe, of Jefferson, three sons, Daniel L. and Marie Geisinger of Middletown, Gary F. and Becky Geisinger of Chambersburg, PA, and Jeffrey A. and Patricia Geisinger of Thurmont; grandchildren, Marsha Williard (Chuck), Amber Rippeon (Danny), Lacy Geisinger, Justin Geisinger (Doreen), Michael Geisinger (Dixie), David Geisinger, Samantha Shawver (Nate), Christina Stoner (Kane), Shawn Stone (Isabellea), Breana Myers (Brian); and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Marie, Dan was preceded in death by, brother, Charles Geisinger; and sister, Beryl Fowler; three sons, J. Michael Geisinger, Keith D. Geisinger, and Timothy L. Geisinger; also, daughter-in-law, Debra Geisinger; and granddaughters, Melissa Moore and Cindy Geisinger.
Dan was well respected in the farming community for his honesty, integrity, and generosity. In his early years he served on the Board of Directors of Southern States, Frederick. In addition to farming, Dan proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. In later years he and his wife, Marie, enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, New Orleans, and Boston. Dan's most treasured place was undoubtedly his farm. It was there that he felt most at peace.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick. Rev. Lawrence K. Frazier will officiate. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
