Jack Ralph George, 78, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at his home.

Jack was born October 24, 1947 in Leesburg, VA to James Edgar George, Sr. and Thelma Thayer George.

Over the years, he enjoyed racing his Thoroughbred horses at the Charles Town Racetrack.

He grew up in Leesburg and attended Loudoun County High School. In the 1970s Jack was a Loudoun County, VA Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Robert Legard. He also worked for the Leesburg Town Police and Middleburg Town Police. From 1982 to 1992, he was a Sergeant with the VA Dept. of Corrections working at the Haymarket Prison Camp. He was also employed with the Washington Co. School Board working with maintenance and also as a security officer at the Hagerstown District Court. In 2000, Jack started his own business of escorting over dimensional size loads, retiring in 2014. Over the years, he enjoyed racing his Thoroughbred horses at the Charles Town Racetrack.

Jack is survived by Ruann Newcomer George, his wife of 53 years; his brother, James E. George; nephew and niece; great-nieces and a great-great-nephew.

Cremation is being handled by Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home and Stauffer Crematory, Inc. A private service will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
