Jack Stewart Reimer passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026.

Jack was born on December 10, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to Gilbert and Louise Reimer. The family moved to California, where Jack grew up on a street surrounded by much of his extended family. He remained close to his many aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout his life. As a teenager, Jack spent much of his time surfing and riding dirt bikes. Jack attended college in Arizona, where he studied English before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving honorably (to include infantry service in Vietnam). Over the course of his life, he engaged in a wide variety of colorful occupations: a Los Angeles police officer, an automobile repo man, and finally settling into a career as an optical technician. Combining his love of baseball and kids, he spent much of his spare time as a Little League umpire. In a turn that surprised no one who knew his sense of adventure, Jack completed formal training as a pastry chef and ran his own boutique pie business (as he would say, “Pie fixes everything!”).

In 1985, Jack married Maryanne Tiffany, and in 1988 the couple moved from the West Coast to the East Coast (California to Maryland), put down roots and raised their kids. Jack was a steadfast friend and a devoted husband; his life centered around service for his family through his creative pursuits. Avocationally, he was a lover of the historical reenactment hobby, golden retrievers (especially in the Service Dog role), and cycling. In later years, Jack also found friendship and camaraderie among a close-knit group of fellow veterans through the VA.

His friends and family will remember him for his warmth and good cheer. Jack was predeceased by his younger sister, Janelle Emge, and his beloved wife, Maryanne. He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey Reimer (wife Karen); his son, Matthew Reimer; his daughter, Kathleen (“Kati”) Hale (husband Kris); his granddaughter, Aiyana Reimer, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal rescue organization in Jack's memory.
