Jacqueline Pauline Phillips Ross

October 15, 1928 — November 9, 2023

Bethesda and Frederick

Jacqueline Pauline Phillips Ross, Jackie, passed away on November 9, 2023, at the age of 95, surrounded by her large family, who will forever love their Mom and Grandma.

Jackie was born on October 15, 1928, in Washington DC. Her father, Gilbert Thomas Phillips died when Jackie was very young, and Jackie grew up with her mother, Pauline Hutchison Phillips and her two older brothers, Buddy and Bobby.  She graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington DC and started work at the Army Map Service where she met Peter Fotheringham Ross. Pete and Jackie Ross were married in August of 1948 and moved to Glen Echo Heights where they raised their six children.

Jacqueline was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1961 at the 14th and Hamilton Kingdom Hall in Washington D.C. She was faithful to her dedication for her whole life and was zealous in helping others learn the same things she came to know from the Bible.

From the late 1970s, she worked part-time until her late 80's making a positive impact on children's lives, first as a playground aide and then in the Elementary after-school programs.  She enjoyed playing games with the children and organizing snacks and activities for them.  Her career started at Brookmont Elementary School and Woodacres Elementary School in Bethesda and concluded at Murch Elementary School in NW Washington DC.

Jackie and Pete were married for 62 years when he passed away in 2010.  She was also predeceased by her daughter, Bobbie, grandsons Michael and Jason, and great-granddaughter Ashley.

Jackie's life was first and foremost about serving her God Jehovah and teaching her family and others about Him and the Bible. She was also ever diligent in caring for her family and instilling values that she trusted her children to follow. Her house was truly home to family and friends alike, who were always welcome to help her with her latest puzzle or to enjoy a glass of iced tea and banana cake while sitting on the front porch talking about things that mattered most.

Jackie's values and strong faith made a deep impression on her children, Bobbie, Patti, John, Ginny, Danny, and Michael, as well as her numerous dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren and so many others who have been touched by her wisdom and admonitions.

Friends and family are invited to come together to remember Jackie Ross on November 17, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. A Memorial discourse will immediately follow at the same location at 11:00 AM.
