James Albert Baker

James Albert Baker, 89, of Brunswick, MD, formerly of Gaithersburg, MD,  passed from this life on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at his residence in Brunswick, MD.
 
Born on November 9, 1934, in Quince Orchard, MD, he was the son of the late William E. Baker and Eleanor Howard Baker. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife, Florence Duley Baker.
 
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958.
 
He worked for Montgomery County Public School, maintenance division where he retired after 30+ years.
 
James loved sports, football, and basketball were a favorite, but baseball held a special place in his heart. He was a fan of the Commanders and Nationals. Spending time with his grandchildren brought him joy, he attended every game or function they had.
 
He is survived by his daughter, Linda K. Munday (John Norris), son, James Bradley Baker (Donna) of Frederick MD grandchildren; Timothy and Jason Munday, Ryan and Nicholas Baker,  
and Michael Bradley Gibb. James is also survived by six siblings, and six-great-grandchildren.
 
He is preceded in death by his daughter; Wanda Marie Gibb; grandson Shane Gibb, and five siblings.
 
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick, MD.
 
A celebration of James's life journey will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the funeral home.
