James William Cromwell Sr., 76, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, March 29, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Kimberly Marie Cromwell for 15 years.

Born on October 4, 1947, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late James C. and Eleanor T. (Crummitt) Cromwell.

Following his graduation from Frederick High School, he entered military service with the U.S. Army.

He worked for Frederick County Highway Department for majority of his career, retiring in 2007.

Affectionately known as "Pop", he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Additionally, he enjoyed woodworking, watching sprint car racing, being outdoors, mowing the grass, and his cats, Izzy and Ama.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, James W. Cromwell Jr. (Laura); daughter, Marybeth Sier; bonus children Julie Dugan (Shawn), Danielle Evans, Jamie West (Curtis), Megan Miller (Russell) and Cory Miller; grandchildren, Delaney Cromwell, Ever Dugan, Livia Evans, Dexter Evans, C.J. West, Avery West, Hailey Hobbs, Cole Smith, Callie Smith, Russell Hobbs. and Rae Miller; and a brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Carol Stambaugh.

He was predeceased by brother, Steven L. Cromwell.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 104 East Main Street in Thurmont, MD.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Church, P.O Box 137, Sabillasville, MD 21780.
