James Thomas Harrison Sr., affectionately known as "JT" and lovingly called "Jay" by family and friends, transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 6, 1968, in Frederick, Maryland, JT was the beloved son of Thomas Woodrow Harrison and Doris Aretha Harrison.
A graduate of Gov. Thomas Johnson High School, JT pursued a career in the culinary arts, where his passion for cooking led him to begin as a cook and later serve as a Sous Chef. His first position was with Tauraso Family Restaurant before dedicating several years of service to Sealy Corporation.
JT accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. He found great joy in listening to gospel music and was known for his infectious smile and impeccable sense of style. Whether dressed for a special occasion or a casual outing, JT always looked his best. His love for sneakers was unmatched, with a collection that often exceeded 150 pairs. A true sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching and talking just about every sport, sharing that passion with family and friends.
Above all else, JT cherished his family. He was a devoted father, a loving brother, and an uncle who was deeply adored by his nieces and nephews. His generous heart and sense of humor brought joy to every family gathering. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer words of encouragement, or simply be present when someone needed him most. The love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
JT was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Melvin and Naomi Carroll; Thomas and Martha Harrison; and his Godmother, Constance Whims.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his beloved son, James Thomas Harrison Jr. and grandsons, Camrin, Jaxen, and Kavoni, his loving sisters, Allana Essex and Shanta Telfer (Neil); his cherished nephews, Larnell, Montrey, and Neil Jr; his adored nieces, Chatia, Gabriella (Tony), Arnanda, Haille, Khalia, and Indi; many beloved great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, god-siblings, extended family members, and dear friends, the homeboys: Donnie, Frank, Larry, Andre, Darnell, and Bundy who will forever treasure the love, laughter, and kindness he shared.
Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we find peace in knowing that JT now rests in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a gift that will remain with us forever. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
