It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Galbraith Goundry, age 74 of Monrovia, MD. Jim passed on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, with his wife Susan of 41 years by his side at their home.
Jim was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Jim was known for his wisdom, wit, and fun nature. He was a veteran of the United States Army who honorably served during the Vietnam War, repairing and outfitting armored tanks while stationed in Germany. Jim worked as an auto technician for over 40 years. Jim enjoyed eating seafood, spending time with his family, making memories with his grandchildren, and watching football.
Jim is survived by his wife, Susan; two sons, Kevin (Madison) and Patrick (Ashley); and grandchildren Carter, Connor, Blakely, and his brother Bill (Barbara). He leaves behind extended family: Ted, Patti, Emily, Kathleen, Sarah, Bill, and Sharon. A celebration of his life will occur at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to an organization of your choosing.
His absence leaves a hole in our family and hearts. Jim wanted everyone to know that he hopes you remember the happy memories of him and that it brings you comfort and peace.
His family and friends will miss his sarcasm, his advice, and the undeniable presence he brought to every gathering. His love and kindness will stay with us always.
