James "Jim" Olivarri

James “Jim” Olivarri, 90, of Brookeville, MD, passed away on October 8, 2025.

He was born on December 22, 1934, in San Antonio, TX to Jimmie Olivarri and Carmen Garcia Olivarri. He was one of eight children. He was the husband of Bobbie Sensabaugh Olivarri.

Jim joined the U.S. Navy in 1953 and proudly served his country before he was honorably discharged in 1958. He married Bobbie Sensabaugh on August 9, 1958, in Wahington D.C. They spent 67 years of married life together, forming a family and bringing three wonderful sons into this world.

Jim graduated from Catholic University in 1965 with a degree in Architecture. Jim closed his architectural firm in August 2000 and moved to Texas to accept a job with the city of San Antonio as an Architect. He retired from the city and moved back to the home place in Brookeville, MD in 2006.

Jim volunteered his free time to many causes during the years, but his real lovewas with the Knights of Columbus. He was a very proud member of Father Rosensteel Council #2169 and later became active in the Knights of Columbus Maryland State Council, serving In key positions and was elected Maryland State Deputy from 1990 to 1992.

He made many lifelong friends through the years while being a part of his communities and contributing in any way he could to help out, especially to St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Silver Spring, MD and St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Poplar Springs, MD. He was well liked and will be greatly missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife Bobbie are three sons James J. Olivarri of Brookeville, MD, Jon A. Olivarri of Parkville, MD, and Michael J. Olivarri of Silver Spring, MD; 2 grandchildren Ana Sophia and Michael Alexander Olivarri of Silver Spring, MD; brothers Alex, John (Grace), and Michael (Nena); sister Julia Rodriguez (Jesse); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Cruz; sister-in-law Sarah; sisters Jovita Olivarri and Josephine Matthey; brother-in-law Julius Matthey; nephew Junior; and niece Yvonne.

Services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to St. Michael Catholic Church of Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael’s Rd., Mount Airy, MD 21771.
