James Joseph Naylor Jr., 79, affectionately known as “Jimmy,” transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, September 13, 2024. Jimmy was born in Frederick, MD on March 4, 1945, to the late James Joseph Sr. and Virginia Bernice Thomas Naylor. Jimmy was educated in Frederick County Public Schools. He started working as a young man and never stopped until he retired from Eastalco after 35 years, and from Horizon Goodwill Industries after 13 years. Jimmy was a hard-working man who took great care of his wife, children, and grandchildren, some of which he helped raise. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he served as an Usher. Jimmy loved doing yard sales on Saturdays, and also a lot of side jobs for other people. He loved his brothers and sisters, and their families.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Emma Naylor of 53 years, and together for 60 years; children James T. Naylor Sr., (Teresa), Elvin Addison (April), and Sakeena Addison; Grandchildren Africa Addison, Elvin Addison Jr, Tamera Redd (Tony), Trokeia Addison, Sakeena Rushing, James T. Naylor Jr. (Melissa), Airian Johnson (Brandon), Octavia Naylor, Rashema Battle, Keanu Bailey, Chanta Naylor, La’Trice Naylor, Ja’mya Naylor; 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Sylvia Naylor and Inje Naylor Willis of Frederick, MD; a brother Stevie Goines and wife Mary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those preceding him in death include Tonia Addison (daughter), Robert H. Addison Jr. (son), mother and father, James J. Naylor Sr., and Virginia Bernice Thomas Naylor; Brothers Ronald Naylor, Anthony (Tony) Naylor Sr., Sister Jody Naylor; grandparents Robert and Genaven Oram Jurricks; Uncles Robert Jurricks Jr., and Rudy Jurricks; Aunt Elizbeth Thomas; Uncle Alonza Thomas; Nephews Anthony Naylor Jr, Jivonni Naylor; Special-friends Jimmy Lee, George Frederick, and Jeffery Green who was like a son.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 W. All Saints St. in Frederick, MD. Funeral services will take place at 11 am, where Rev. Mark Groover will officiate.
The interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
