James Blair "Nick" Nicholson, born on October 16, 1937, in Brunswick, MD, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Edgar Nicholson, his mother, Ruth Ely Nicholson, and his son, Michael Blair Nicholson.
Nick is survived by his brother, Harry Evans, his wife Pat, and their children, Chuck and Lynn; his loving sons, James Eric Nicholson and Marc Aaron Nicholson; his cherished granddaughter, Jordan Taylor Cockerham; his beloved grandson, Sawyer Franklin Nicholson; and his great-grandson, Brooks Andrew Cockerham. Nick was married to Janice Kay Nicholson, his life partner, with whom he shared unwavering love and care for many years. Additionally, Nick had one brother-in-law, Russel Spiess, whom he greatly appreciated and cared for.
A proud alumnus of Charlotte Hall Military Academy, Nick served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959, participating in the 1958 Mediterranean Cruise and the occupation of Beirut, Lebanon. His service to his nation was a source of immense pride.
Nick was a devoted and active member of the Loyal Order of Moose, 1582, in Brunswick, MD, for many decades, contributing greatly to the community until the lodge's untimely closing.
Nick had a zest for life that was evident in his love for travel and the cherished moments spent at "the Farm" in Capon Bridge, WV, and at Seacrets in Ocean City, MD. He formed many great friendships throughout his life, and Hollie, Moria, and Kelly were among his dearest and considered family.
Nick's warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love and dedication to his family and friends will forever be remembered.
His family and friends miss him greatly. May he rest in peace.
