James Charles Singler of Frederick died on May 30, 2026.
He was born December 25, 1941 in Queens, New York City. He graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1963. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl J. and Theresa A. Singler, sister Marie S. Cleary and brother Joseph A. Singler. He retired from the U. S. Navy in 1983. He retired from Federal Civil Service in 2001. He was predeceased in 2014 by his wife of 46 years, Nancy H. Singler. He is survived by two daughters, Victoria Wilson, wife of Douglas Wilson, and Christine Estelle, both of Thurmont and six grandchildren: Meredith (husband Jacob Mitchner), Matthew and Michael Wilson and Charles III, Christian and Catherine Estelle. He is also survived by his brother, Carl of East Setauket, NY and sister, Judith Johnson of Denver, CO and numerous nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street in Frederick. Inurnment will be at the U. S. Naval Academy Columbarium in Annapolis, Maryland at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in James’s name may be made to the United States Naval Academy Foundation Center for Academic Excellence (USNA Foundation, CAE), P. O. Box 79169, Baltimore, MD 21298-8838. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
