Jane D. Abrecht, 87, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Village Crossing in Frederick, MD. Her loving husband William B. Abrecht preceded her in death in 2012 after 55 years of marriage.
Born on January 1, 1938, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of Walter Raleigh & Hester Caroline (Michael) Winebrenner; and fifth generation of Henry C. and Elizabeth G. Storr.
Jane graduated from Walkersville High School in 1956. She was very active in the Walkersville High School Alumni Association serving as a past vice president for five years and becoming a life member.
Her past employment history within Frederick includes Price Electric, Delphey’s Sporting Goods Store, North Frederick Elementary School Cafeteria worker, and the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) as a Title Examiner and then as a Drivers Examiner. She retired from the MVA after twenty-three years of service.
Jane was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for several years. She enjoyed camping and helped her troop raise money to purchase tents through the sales of pumpkins grown in her parent’s garden by troop members. The tents were donated to the Girl Scouts after she left scouting.
Jane was a past president of the Frederick Pedalers and Free State Cluster Bicycle Clubs where she enjoyed cycling with her husband and family. She was a member of the Women’s Democratic League of Frederick County, serving as past President, Vice President, and Secretary. She was part of the Frederick County Democrat Central Committee for four years. Jane was a member of the Chapel Lutheran Church.
Jane loved her family and enjoyed the company of her love bird Lou. She and her husband were avid campers. Jane is survived by her daughters, Sharon Beck (Stephen), and Susan Abrecht-Parks (Brian, preceded Jane in death in 2020), along with her grandchildren: Andrew Abrecht, Aaron Abrecht, Nichole Szczesny (Robert), Stephanie Morton (Gregory); step-grandchildren: Oliver and Josiah Parks; and great-grandchildren: Gabe, Mikey and Theo.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank all the Village Crossing Connections staff for the loving care and support they provided Jane. The family is also grateful to Frederick Health Hospice.
