Janie Weber Shafer

Janie Weber Shafer, 79, of Brunswick, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her home in Knoxville, MD. She was the beloved wife of John Shafer for 58 years.

Born on November 4, 1946, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Millard Phillips and Rita Virginia (Gaither) Weber.

Janie was a 1964 graduate of Brunswick High School and then attended Frostburg State University and Hood College receiving both her bachelor’s degree in math and master’s degree in education. Janie taught for 55 years. In her spare time, she helped on the family farm and gardening.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Millard Wesley Shafer, and wife Coleen; three granddaughters, Solana, Jennifer and Frances and her nephew Erik Good and his wife Chrissy.

She was proceeded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Odam.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Brunswick), 1100 North Maple Avenue in Brunswick, MD.

A celebration of Janie's life journey will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Brunswick). Interment will be at St. Mark's Cemetery in Petersville , MD.
