Listen to Obituary

Jason Fredrick Thompson, 47, of Hancock, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Jason had a chaotic life and conquered his inner tribulations through artistic and analytical outlets.

Born on January 9, 1979, in Charles Town, West Virginia, he was the son of Keith Wayne Thompson (recently deceased) and Kathrine (Kathy) Strube. .He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and attended Junior College for a short period of time .

Born with quiet humble beginnings, Jason found music, art, woodworking and robotics so interesting that they became his lifelong passions. Jason could fix anything he set his mind on repairing, tearing down, replacing or reassembling. He especially loved the idea of hands-on projects and working with his hands. He most especially found painting and art his immediate and profound outlets when he needed to STILL his mental overload. When he wanted a challenge, you couldn’t keep him away from tinkering on his beat up motorcycle (a trait he learned from his father Keith) or making some unique electronic robot do his bidding. His grandfather Clifford Thompson taught him the ins and outs of Woodworking. Jason was a sponge at learning this and could tell you any type of wood and did carpentry projects for family and friends. Another unique trait he inherited from his grandfather Werner Friedrich Strube was the love of nature, animals and the great outdoors. He loved it all and absorbed it all. His mind worked on endless overload constantly and when he needed down-time....he painted.

With all that, Jason possessed a rare inner and outer magnetic warmth that instantly drew people and animals to him. He loved, loved, loved his niece Lilly and his cats Midnight and Peachy. He would do anything and everything he could for Miss Lilly - making her laugh and giggle all the time. Uncle Jason was so silly she’d say. His cats were so loved, that they just needed to give that look and a treat would come their way. He was always there for whomever needed him no matter what — Mom, Dad, Grandma, Aunts/Uncles, a friend/relative — day or night.

He is survived by his loving mother, Katherine Strube (and Jay), his brother JP Thompson (Kaya), his grandmother Rosie Thompson; his aunt Brigitte Fouche (Sig Other - Fred) aunt Marita (Mardy) Romero (uncle Ben) aunt Sabine Zimmermann, aunt Heidi Ritchie (uncle Tod), cousins in USA and abroad; as well as his step-family.

He is preceded in death by his father Keith WayneThompson 10/15/2026, his grandfathers Clifford Thomas and Werner Friedrich Strube, his grandmother Ruth Strube, His aunt Debbie Lapole, aunt Erika Remsburg, uncle Walter Zimmermann and several cousins,.

Jason was fiercely loyal, extremely creative, hardworking, generous to a fault, kind and sensitive in a world that, at times, became overwhelming for him. While Life sometimes tried to dim his light and the recent death of his father Keith complicated his story, it never erased the goodness, the brilliance or the deep capacity for loving everyone that will forever define the MAN he truly was to all.
