She was proud to grow up in Baltimore and moved to Woodsboro in her teenage years. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1958 and married the love of her life just a few months later on July 5th.
Jean’s life was devoted to her family and her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. She was a stay-at-home mom, volunteering many hours at Walkersville Elementary School, carting her kids and many others to sporting events and even planning a Cub Scout Jamboree on the home farm.
She was the secretary for Woodsboro Chapel Lutheran Parish for several years and very active in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was director of Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher at Woodsboro Lutheran Church and Chapel Lutheran Church.
Some of her most cherished hours were spent as a leader of the Lay Healing Ministry, crocheting hundreds of healing prayer shawls and spending time in prayer.
Jean had many talents and enjoyed painting, jewelry-making, crocheting, and reading.
An advocate for higher education, Jean graduated from Frederick Community College with her associate degree in 1995. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to further their education through financial support.
