Her warm-hearted nature and infectious smile brought comfort and joy to those around her.
The world lost a remarkable soul on August 3, 2026, when Jennifer Schnell Schafer passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 18, 1986, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Jennifer was the beloved daughter of Bonnie Schnell and the late Tony Schnell. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to others left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Jennifer's journey through life was guided by her passion for helping others.
She graduated from Watkins Mill High School in 2004, then pursued higher education at the University of Maryland, earning her bachelor's degree in 2008. Her commitment to making a difference was further exemplified when she completed her master's degree at the University of Pittsburgh in Social Work and Public Health in 2011. This dedication led her to a fulfilling career as a licensed professional counselor and a certified child life specialist, roles in which she touched countless lives with her empathy and kindness.
In 2011, Jennifer married her devoted husband, Chris Schafer, embarking on a life filled with love and shared dreams. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Troy(15), Grant (12) and Morgan (5), who were the light of her life. Jennifer cherished every moment spent with her family, often enjoying craft projects with her children and sharing her love for animals. Over the years, she rescued many animals, providing them with the care and affection they deserved. Jennifer was a cherished sister to Jessica (Dave) Lueben, Jason (Isabel) Schnell and Julee Schnell. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews as well as aunts, uncles, great aunts & uncles. Her family was her anchor, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A service to celebrate Jennifer's life will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, August 15, 2026, 12-2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jennifer's memory. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Fayetteville, GA Hospice and Frederick Health Hospice team for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time. Jennifer Schnell Schafer's vibrant spirit, unwavering compassion, and boundless love will be missed dearly, but her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be forever remembered.
