In Loving Memory of Jessie Nathaniel Wells, Sr.
Jessie Nathaniel Wells, Sr., 85, went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2025. He was born on August 6, 1940, in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, the youngest child of Ivory Christopher and Gertrude Wells.
At 22, Jessie married the love of his life, Donna Hanshaw, and together they shared 62 years of marriage and raised four children. A hardworking and devoted family man, he worked as an auto body technician and later as a school bus operator, retiring from Montgomery County Public Schools in 2012 before continuing for one more year with Frederick County Public Schools.
Jessie was a faithful Christian who lived his life guided by his love for God and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved telling jokes, and took joy in making people laugh. In retirement, he enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, woodworking, and—most of all—time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife Donna, his four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members. He will be remembered for his faith, his laughter, his quiet strength, and his deep love for his family.
The funeral service for Jessie will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at ICC, 123 Byte Drive, Frederick, MD at 10 AM for the viewing and 11 AM for the service followed by burial at Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville and the repast back at ICC. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to donate to the Missions organization here on the behalf of Jessie. Please choose 'Missions' in the drop-down menu.
