In Loving Memory of Jitendra Desai

Jitendra Maganlal Desai, age 80, of Urbana, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 18, 2025. He was a devoted husband, beloved father, proud grandfather, caring brother, and a gifted engineer whose kindness touched all who knew him. A man of deep integrity, Jitendra built his life around family, hard work, and compassion. He lived life to the fullest-working hard and finding joy and laughter along the way. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Jitendra was born on June 27, 1945, in Vagan, India, to Maganlal and Lalita Desai. He grew up surrounded by the love of a large and vibrant family, where he learned the values of unity, resilience, and dedication-principles that shaped the way he lived his entire life.

As a young man, Jitendra’s bravery and determination to create a better life led him to the United States, where he earned his master’s degree in engineering from NC State. With great courage and sacrifice, he left behind his home and his beloved wife, who was expecting their first child, to pursue this dream. Though the distance was difficult, his journey not only transformed his own life but also created lasting opportunities for his family and many others.

Jitendra’s career as an engineer was both meaningful and rewarding. His most recent and final employment was with the Department of Energy, where he worked with dedication for many years before retiring from a profession he deeply enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maganlal and Lalita Desai; and his brothers, Praveen, Anil, and Harish.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Indira; his son, Raja, and daughter-in-law, Jayshree; his daughter, Meha, and son-in-law, Dean; his sister, Tarulata; and his treasured grandchildren, Ashna and Amira. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Om Shanti. Jitendra’s love, kindness, and joy for life will remain a blessing in the hearts of all who knew him.
