John R. Brehmer

John R Brehmer, 81, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Frederick Health Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.

Born on November 20, 1944, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Charles R Brehmer and Dorothy M (Hoysack) Brehmer.

He attended St. James Roman Catholic School in Mt. Rainier, Maryland as a child and attended high school at West High School in Rochester, New York. He went on to attend Northern Virginia Community College after high school. Later in life, when he was in his 40’s he decided it was time for a career change and he went back to Frederick Community College in Frederick, Maryland and obtained a degree in Respiratory Therapy.

He started his career as a draftsman at Union Station in Washington, D.C. and later worked with Harris Smariga and Associates after he and his young family moved to Frederick, Maryland in 1979. In the 1990’s, he became a Respiratory Therapist and worked for a variety of hospitals, including Frederick Health Hospital, where he retired in 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Brehmer, his children Sarah Malasky (Christopher Barto) and Andrew Brehmer, and grandchildren Zachary Malasky and Drea Malasky. He is also survived by his brother Charles Brehmer (Mary).

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Jillian M. Brehmer, (11/29/2014).

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A.1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland.

A celebration of John's life journey will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the funeral home. Rev. Chance Martinez will officiate.
