Mr. John Francis Covahey, 87, of Frederick , passed away on Friday May 6, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital . He was the husband of Phyllis Lorraine Covahey.
Born on October 21, 1923 in Baltimore , he was the son of the late John T. and Mary Leonard Covahey.
John proudly served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. He served aboard the USS Platte in the Pacific Theatre. He worked and retired from the Atomic Energy Commission. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Baltimore Orioles and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son John and daughters Sue and Sara, grandchildren Ryan and Cari, and his brother William Covahey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward and his sister Rita.
Service will be private at the convenience of the family.
