John Michael Crowe, 80, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 17, 2026. Born September 25, 1945 in Frostburg, Maryland, John was the son of John and Jane Crowe.
A 1963 graduate of Beall High School (Frostburg, MD), he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Frostburg State College in 1967. He went on to dedicate 30 years to education, teaching history in Frederick County, Maryland, at Governor Johnson Middle School and Middletown Middle School.
Married on June 17, 1967, John is survived by his wife Carole Ann (Frushour) Crowe; daughter, Rebecca Crowe Gloyd and husband Jim; grandchildren, Lauren Huffman (Justin), Bridget Strong (Josh), Piper Bowers, and Seth Bowers; and great-grandchildren, Noah Huffman and Austin Huffman. He is also survived by his brother Tim Crowe (Frostburg) and Fran Snyder (Boonsboro). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Crowe.
John’s faith was an important part of his life. Over the years, he and Carole attended and served in the choir at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Washington, D.C., and Saint Mary Orthodox Church in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
John’s family gives special thanks to Michael Dorsey and Hayden Scott of Hagerstown for the amazing and selfless care they provided John during the past year.
A viewing for family and friends will take place on Thursday, August 20 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, MD. A funeral service will be held the following day on Friday, August 21 at Saint Mary Orthodox Church in Chambersburg, PA with a viewing for family and friends beginning at 10 am and funeral service at 11 am. A private burial will take place at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren (Wolfsville, MD).
John will be forever remembered by his family, friends, students, church members, and the fellowship of Bill W.
