John Bailey Drake, 24, of Burkittsville, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in West Virginia.
Born on May 4, 2001, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of John (Jad) Drake and Tammy (Grossnickle) Drake.
Bailey graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 2019. He was a member of the FFA, serving as vice-president. He excelled in auto mechanics and took every class possible. With the knowledge gained, he built his own custom truck.
He loved participating in tractor pulls, attending auctions and concerts, riding his motorcycle, camping in younger years, and tinkering with his antique trucks.
Bailey was employed with VDOT and had just received his Virginia State Inspections License.
Bailey was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Mason and Kanin; grandparents, Gene Drake, and Steve and Doris Grossnickle; and many friends.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Sue Drake.
A celebration of Bailey's life will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brunswick Fire Dept., 1500 Volunteer Dr. in Brunswick. At the request of the family, please dress casual and bring a dish to share.
