John A. Greene, Jr. - We are saddened to announce the passing of John A. Greene, Jr., on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He fought a long and courageous battle for the last two years.
John was a strong, fun-loving, Gentle Giant - but intimated by no one. His greatest joy was loving his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge about finances, real estate, and politics. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge.
He retired from the federal government after 37 years and was a Real Estate Broker for 50 years - still holding his Broker license until his death. He served in the Washington, DC National Guard and was called to duty during the Martin Luther King riots. He was an early pioneer of computer operations and programming. After his retirement from the federal government, he was called back to serve as a Contractor Computer Analyst during the Y2K crisis. He was census taker for the US Census Bureau, Volunteer Election Judge, and Homeowners Association President.
John is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginny) Greene; daughter, Michelle Brazelton and husband, Rick, Anthony Greene and wife, Jennifer, Philip Greene, Adam Greene and wife, Wendy. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Margaret, Xavier, Addison, and Elizabeth. John and Ginny were so blessed to have an extended granddaughter and grandson, Carly and husband, Tom Davis, and Chris and Emily Brazelton. Blessed also with nine great-grandchildren, Caroline, Alan, Emily, Ruth, George, Rose, Susanna, Mason, and Madison. He also had a stepbrother, Larry and wife, Mickey; and sisters, Noami and Mary.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28th at the funeral home in Frederick officiated by Pastor Donald Moenich. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
