John Beverly Hane, 93, of Frederick passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 8, 1932 in Frederick, he was the son of the late John William Hane and Ruth Ellen (Engle) Hane. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years; Treva I. (Renner) Hane, and a son, Aaron B. K. Hane. He was also predeceased by his brother, James.
John was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1951. He served in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean War stationed in Austria from 1951 to 1953. John was a lifelong member of the construction industry performing many different jobs over his career. He was a contractor, architect, and builder with many different job titles over his long working career. He worked on several special projects at Fort Detrick; Fort Ritchie; and also at Camp David.
John was also a retail store owner providing a much-needed grocery outlet to the town of Myersville. Even during desperate times; including near blizzard conditions, John was willing to obtain supplies of critical necessities whatever it took. Many times he would make trips to Frederick through the snow in order to restock the supplies in his store.
John was very active in the community both in Frederick and in Myersville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 11 and the Eagles Club both of Frederick. He was a member of the Francis Scott Key Lions Club, and the Myersville Lions Club for many years serving a term as president of the organization.
John was a duckpin bowler for many years with the Lions Club league and the Coca-Cola League in Hagerstown.
John is survived by his 2 daughters; Sharll Hane of Frederick; and Tina Miller and husband, Lynn of Hampstead, MD. He is also survived by six grandchildren; A. J. and Adam Hane of North Wilkesboro, NC; Cynthia Miller of Gaithersburg; Pamelyn Yarian and husband, Dan of Louisville, OH; Nathan Miller of Hanover, PA and Timothy Miller and wife, Shelby; of Finksburg, MD. Also surviving John are six great-grandchildren; Aiden and Madison Miller of Hanover, PA; Ashley and Keegan Yarian of Louisville, OH; and Kamryn and Leonard Miller of Finksburg, MD. John was very proud of all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always had a way of making them laugh. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland 21702. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
A private burial will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the general fund of the Evangelical Reform United Church of Christ, 15 W Church St, Frederick, MD 21701 or the Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8496 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
