John Lynch, Jr.

John Lynch, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on September 23, 2026.

Born and raised in Dunbar, Pennsylvania, John graduated from Connellsville High School before earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years during the Cuban Missile Crisis, traveling to many countries throughout his service. One of his favorite stories was about being stationed in Iceland, where the winds were so strong that Marines had to hold onto ropes to move safely from one building to another.

Following his military service, John dedicated himself to public service through a distinguished career with the Montgomery County Police Department. He began as an undercover officer in the Narcotics Division and was later promoted to Detective in the Homicide and Sex Crimes Division. His hard work and leadership eventually earned him promotion to Sergeant, and he concluded his law enforcement career in 911 Emergency Services.

After retiring from law enforcement, John successfully owned and operated a commercial cleaning company for many years. He eventually entrusted the business to his longtime friend, Jose Jasso, who continues to successfully operate it today.

Of all his accomplishments, John's greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 60 years, Dixie Lynch, and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked hard throughout his life to ensure his family was cared for and supported.

John enjoyed trips to the casino, playing cards, and spending time with his faithful dog, Fluffy, who was his constant companion and best friend. He was known for his sharp sense of humor, generous spirit, and ability to make friends wherever he went. The staff at his favorite restaurants looked forward to seeing him, enjoying his jokes and appreciating the kindness and generosity he showed to everyone he met.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dixie Lynch; his son, Billy Lynch; his granddaughter, Cierra Keyes; and his great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Keyes.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Lynch III.

John will be remembered for his love of family, his service, and his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
