John Paul 'Jack'Stush, 87, of Frederick passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026. He was the loving partner/husband of Audrey Rayfield for 38 years. Born October 21, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre, PA he was the son of the late Anna Gbur Stush and John J. Stush.
Jack graduated from Larksville High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a radioman. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Jack went to work for the Department of Energy. Jack had a successful career in communications with DOE. His position took him to many places, domestic and foreign. During this period, Jack received his associates degree. Jack was active in his community. He was a life member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Frederick Elks Lodge. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post 0011, the 40 & 8 Voiture No.155 and the VFW Post 7478, Greenwood, DE.
Jack was a dedicated member of the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ , Frederick. He served as a deacon as well as supported the Scouts of America.
Jack enjoyed reading, amateur radio, and crossword puzzles. He and Audrey loved traveling and were fortunate to have visited many European countries. Jack exuded a warmth that was true to his generous and kind spirit. He will be remembered for his endearing sense of humor.
Jack was preceded in death by his son, Todd John, his brother Gerald Stush and sister Carol Sankus.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his stepson Biron and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on August 29, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Pastor Josh Privitt will officiate.
Inurnment will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery, 121 N. Altamont Avenue, Thurmont.
