Johnny Crone Hendricks

January 13, 1941 — April 4, 2026

Middletown

Johnny Crone Hendricks, 85, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Nancy Null Hendricks.

Born January 13, 1941, in Middletown, he was the son of the late George L. Hendricks and Rebecca Belle Crone Hendricks.

Johnny graduated from Middletown High School in 1959. He enjoyed all sports, with a special passion for basketball-particularly perfecting his foul shots. He was also a dedicated member of the FFA.

He spent his life working as a farmer. When he wasn’t tending the land, he could often be found caring for his honeybees-a skill he learned from his grandfather and uncle-deer hunting, or fishing local streams.

Johnny and his wife Nancy shared a deep love for raising Morgan horses on their Middletown farm. This passion brought them great joy, especially welcoming spring foals each year. He also enjoyed showing horses in hand-haltered classes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Hendricks and Robert Hendricks.

A visitation will be held at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, 12704 Wolfsville Road, Smithsburg, MD 21783 on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service in the church cemetery.
