Joseph Franklin Gordon, 82, of Brunswick, MD died at Northampton Manor Health Care Center on Sunday, October 9, 2016; he was born on November 20, 1933 in Rohresville, MD to Norman E. and Leona Mullendore Gordon. Joe was a devoted, loving husband to Roma Marlene (Carey) Gordon for 54 years until Roma's death in 2009. He is survived by his sons Kevin Douglas (Eileen) and George Kendall (Karen) Gordon; grandchildren, George Kendall (Jackie) Gordon, II, Nicholas Joseph (Sarah) Gordon, and Jamie Blair Gordon; great-grandfather of Blaine Jackson Gordon.

Joe was 1951 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He played trumpet in the band; the Hagerstown Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Rohresville Band. He was very active in sports, played baseball in the Brunswick Maryland State League for 20 years; was manager in the Brunswick Little League for 15 years and helped to start football at Brunswick High School. He loved to golf and was an avid duck pin bowler.

Joe worked for the B&O and then CSX Railroads as a machinist for 43 years, and at one time owned and operated Gordon's Auto Service in Brunswick, MD. He also served in the US Army Reserves, 309th Logistic Command A in Hagerstown, MD.

He was a long standing, active member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Brunswick, MD and also active in Brunswick Food Bank; Brunswick Masonic Lodge #191, Past Master and 50 year pin recipent; Frederick #79 Order of Eastern Star; Frederick Scottish Rite, 14 Degrees; Baltimore Scottish Rite, 32 Degrees; Brunswick Lions Club and NARVE #103 (National Association of Retired Veteran Employees.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick, MD on Saturday, October 15, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a Masonic service at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held at New Hope United Methodist Church, 7 South Maryland Avenue, Brunswick, MD 21716 on Sunday, October 16 at 2 pm. Interment Lovettsville Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Hope UMC.
