Joseph "Joe" Franklin Carter

Joseph “Joe” Franklin Carter passed away on May 31, 2023, at the age of 39, in Frederick, MD. Joe was preceded in death by his sisters, Tina Carter and Michele Justus-Stewart and brother-in-law, Luciano DiSalvo. Joe leaves behind his children, Joseph Jr., Hunter, Tiaunna, and Nolan. He is also survived by his parents, Darlene & Charlie Carter; his sisters, Casey Smith and Dawn (Daniel) Donnells; brother, Cody Smith; his fiancée, Audrey Eyler; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.

Joe didn’t have an easy life. He overcame addiction and owned up to his mistakes without making excuses for his choices. He worked extremely hard to create a better life for his children and himself. Those who knew him, knew he could be stubborn -- whether it came as simple as riding his beloved motorcycle while recovering from major surgery, or more complex like the goals he set in his short life -- once his mind was set, he would fight anyone who would stand in his way. His tenacity and unbreakable spirit are only part of what made him the incredible person he was, the person those close to him got to know and love.

Joseph’s presence is noticeably missing from the lives of those who loved him. He will be missed more than words can say.

A Celebration of Joe's life will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Church of Transfiguration Memorial Hall, 6909 Maryland Ave, Frederick, MD 21703.
