Joseph Fumu Kasende, Jr.

Joseph Fumu Kasende Jr., age 18, joined his Eternal Father God Almighty on Monday, January 9, 2023. Joseph, also known as “Joe”, ‘Jojo”, “Babou”, “Bobef”  meant more to his family and friends than he ever understood. 
Born on December 21, 2004, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of Joseph Fumu Kasende, Sr. and Francine Mwamba Kasongo- Kasende of Frederick, MD. Joseph attended his senior year as an AP student-athlete at Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Baltimore-City, Maryland. He played for the football team where they won their twelve-time Maryland State Champion title his past fall season. Formerly he attended Governor Thomas Johnson High School in Frederick, Maryland where he also played football.  He impeccably played violin with a good ear and no sheet music. 
He loved working out in the gym! Joseph enjoyed playing Mario on the Nintendo switch, spending fun times with his friends, and late-night drives to Sheetz gas station for some late-night cravings. 
He was always very polite, humble, and inspired everyone he encountered by his high self-expectations and drive for success.  
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Gaetan-Alexandre, Francesca-Aline, Marie-Ange, Amandine-Veronique, Jean-Marcel, and Grace Marie-Aimee Kasende; grandparents, Jean-Marcel and Pelagie Kasongo; 
uncles, Francois Kasende, Louis Kasende, Jean-Pierre Kasende, Victor Kasende, Emile Kasende, Francis Tambwe, Gabriel Kasongo and Eddy Kasongo; aunts, Leonnie Kasende, Therese Kasende, Annie Kasende, Wivine Kasende, Claire Kasongo and Joelle Kasongo numerous nieces and nephews, and lastly his teammates more so known as his additional brothers.
The family will receive friends at 101 Maroon Ct ,  in Frederick , MD.
A service of Catholic Christian burial will take place on Saturday January 21st, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD. Father Mike McDermott will be the celebrant.  Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, MD. There will be a funeral procession at 1PM driving past TJ High school football field. Please join the family at 2PM for food and fellowship at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick following the graveside.

We invite you to join us as we celebrate the life of Joseph Jr. Joe liked to have a good time. Birthdays were extravagant! He was always having fun with his friends. We invite you our friends, and family members, to join us as SJRCS McElroy Hall where we will eat, dance, & remember the good times! Let's raise a glass to Joe!
