Joseph A. Lyons

Joseph A. Lyons, 66, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at his home in Frederick, Maryland.

Joe was born on November 19, 1959, in Washington, D.C., to Carole Anne (Peterson) Lyons and the late James H Lyons. He was the eldest of seven and after escaping his strict Catholic education, he graduated a year early from Wheaton High School in 1977. He spent many years of his career working as a service writer at various car dealerships as well as a stint as body shop manager. Joe was known for his long hours, strong work ethic, and the relationships built with his clients.

Joe was a proud man with a distinctive and often understated sense of humor. He enjoyed movies, football, cars, and had a knack for music and movie trivia. Known for his sometimes colorful humor and quick wit, he had a way of making those around him laugh when they least expected it. He also had a talent for bestowing memorable nicknames upon those he loved, striking a charming balance between affection and humor.

Though often stoic, Joe expressed his love by ensuring his family always had what they wanted and needed. From time to time, he would smile, something those closest to him cherished and attempted to capture on camera. Joe was a private man, filled with perseverance and strength. In recent years, he faced many battles with quiet bravery and a remarkable will to live.

Joe is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carrie; his children, Ashley and Matthew (Rachel); and his beloved grandchildren, Elijah, Grayson, and Reid.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Home, P.A., 1621 Opposumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a memorial service to immediately follow.
