Joseph B. Sheckels

Joseph B. Sheckels, 72, of Jefferson, MD died on January 5th, 2026. Joe was born on March 19, 1953 to the late Charles and Mary "Judy" Sheckels. He was the husband of Patricia A. "Belton" Sheckels since April 26, 1982.

Joe is survived by 1 daughter: Leah M. Sheckels, 2 grandsons: Robert W. Wease, and Travis D. Sheckels, and 1 granddaughter: Hailey M. Sheckels. He is also survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister: Steve C. Sheckels of Tennessee, Randy L. Sheckels and wife Holly of Virginia, and Brenda Sue and husband Keith Butler of Gaithersburg. He is also survived by many beloved nephews, nieces, and great nephews and great nieces. Joe was predeceased by his mother and father, Charles and Mary "Judy" Sheckels, sister Linda L. Corbett, and niece Yolanda Sheckels.

Joe had his own painting business for many years. Before retiring, he worked for Frederick Painting and Supply Company in Frederick, MD. Joe's hobbies and interests were riding his motorcycle, raising turkeys and chickens, gardening, hunting, and fishing any chance he got, even into his final days. Joe suffered from cancer and fought the disease with courage and tenacity.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 16 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A celebration of life service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim May officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the funeral home.

Interment will be private.
