Josephine Estelle Flook, 85, of Myersville, Maryland, passed away on October 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Known affectionately as Jo and Nanny, Josephine was born on June 17, 1941, in Hagerstown, Maryland, to Leon R. Flook and Evelyn (Corder) Flook Showe. She attended North High School.
Josephine spent her early years caring for her younger siblings and continued that loving tradition with her own children. Whether working as a cook in local restaurants or preparing meals in her own home, she found joy in cooking and, most of all, in watching others enjoy the food she lovingly prepared. If she wasn’t busy in the kitchen she was busy on the farm. Caring for others was a natural part of who she was, and her warmth and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
Josephine was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Flook, Dick Flook, Donna Showe, and Joan James; her daughter, Peggy Reeder; her grandsons Kurt Miller Jr. and Jason Reeder; and her granddaughter, Katie Reeder.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Richard Flook Sr.; her children, Vickie Doub (Rick), Sherry Miller (Kurt), Rick Flook Jr., and Brad Flook; her grandchildren, Becky Reeder, Amanda Ahalt, Nicki Shook, Matthew Flook, Brad Flook Jr., Ricky Doub Jr., and Megan Cox; 11 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Ronnie Flook, Renfred Flook, Carol Cook, and Joe Showe.
Josephine's legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the love she shared around her table. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
