Her family meant everything to her, and that love remained at the center of her life.

Julia Beth Walser, 67, of Autumn Lake Glade Valley Nursing Home, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Frederick Health Hospital, with her daughter, Holly, by her side.

She was the daughter of the late Donald E. McCleary and stepmother, Mary Kay McCleary, currently of Waynesboro, PA.

Born June 28, 1959, in Bethesda, MD, Julia attended Waynesboro, PA area schools and later faced a life-changing brain injury at the age of 29. From that time forward, she required extensive medical care, eventually making her home at Autumn Lake Glade Valley, Walkersville, MD, in 2001.

Julia was a beloved mother and grandmother who loved her daughters and grandchildren deeply. Her family meant everything to her, and that love remained at the center of her life. She is survived by her children, Holly Ambris and husband John of CA, Lindsey Mock and husband Dave Gitlin of Australia, and Tessa Walser and partner Nick Buchheit of CA. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Jake and Austin Ambris, Danica Buchheit and Quinn Gitlin.

Julia’s life was shaped by strength, care, and the devotion of all those who loved her.

She is survived by brothers, Don Steven McCleary (Ana) of Raleigh, NC, David Stewart McCleary (Toya) of Waynesboro, PA; and sister, Diana McCleary Hoffman (Wayne) of Walkersville, MD. Also, step-siblings, Billy Hough (Karen), Kitty Fingerman (Rich), Tim Hough (Tina), Andy Hough (Cheryl), and Emily Hough (Jerry); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Julia’s life was shaped by strength, care, and the devotion of all those who loved her. Though her years were marked by challenges, she was surrounded by family who continued to hold her close and honor her with their love. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, and in all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick, Julia’s family would like to thank Autumn Lake Glade Valley Nursing Home in Walkersville, MD for their dedicated service and excellent care over the many years. Special thanks to Amanda, Asia, Stephanie, Robin, Christina, Deja, and Sandra who cared for Julia with the love of a family member. Additionally, the family is most grateful to the expertly skilled personnel in the Frederick Health Hospital Emergency Department and hospice teams for the excellent, comforting care provided during her final days.

Celebration of Julia’s life journey will be held on September 26th. Location will be provided at a later date.
