We celebrate the life of Karen A. Faecke, 90, who died recently on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

She was born December 24,1932 to the late Sven Aage Christensen and Mary Ann Balwin Christensen. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Richard, Thomas, Katherine (Balk), and Theodore. They all shared a strong Christian faith; the love of books; playing instruments, singing and dancing, and football.

She loved all kinds of music and had vocal musical training in her high school years before she chose nursing as her career. Karen graduated as BSN, RN from the Mercy School of Nursing in Michigan. She served many years at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Her passion was in caring for the mothers and babies in the labor, delivery, and nursery departments.

Karen was the proud wife of the late WWII veteran, Donnan T. Faecke, for 58 years. During her retirement she and Donnan shared the love of fishing, playing cards, traveling, dancing, and doing puzzles.

Greatly loved by a large family of seven children, surviving are, Kathleen Faecke Arnold (David), Stephen Faecke (Tina), Patricia Faecke Eplee Cooney (Patrick) and David Faecke (Donna); grandchildren, Aaron Arnold, Regina Arnold McClellan, Matthew Eplee, Joshua Cooney, Krista Faecke Fries, Mackenzie Faecke Gendron, Kaylee Faecke, and Maggie Faecke; great-grandchildren, Falyn  and Colby Eplee, Brenden, Colin, and Molly Arnold, Lana, Jordan, and Evan McClellan, Samantha and William Fries, and Liam and  AJ Cooney; and many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren also felt her love and care throughout her years. She’ll be dearly missed by adopted families, Carl and Jeanett Athey and her ” NC family” John and Mary Archer and children.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas, Michael, and Paul (Helen).

Karen will be remembered by family and friends for her strong will,  and her feisty personality.  She will always have a special place in our hearts.

A Celebration of Karen’s life will be a Catholic Mass and Memorial gathering. Date and location to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in her honor, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors.
